Wreath Laying at the Soviet Memorial

To commemorate VE Day, a ceremony was held at the Soviet Memorial in the Geraldine Mary Harmsworth Park, adjacent to the Imperial Museum on 9th May 2013.   A wreath was laid by Irene Glausiusz  on behalf of the Children in War Memorial  Day Project. The wreath was  inscribed in memory of  all the children lost during past wars and  including ongoing conflicts.

HE Alexander Yakovenko, Ambassador of the Russian Federation addressed the gathering, as well as MP Simon Hughes and local Mayor of Southwark Cllr Althea Smith.  Other representatives came from the Embassies of CIS countries.
