Another Successful Gathering to Remember All War Children

The Children-in-War Memorial Day Annual Remembrance Ceremony was held at the Memorial to the Innocents on Wednesday 22nd November 2017 in the precinct of Westminster Abbey.  Including many  school children, approximately 65 people were in attendance.  The Committee Chairman Professor Martin Parsons noted that the sound system was excellent which meant that passers by on the pavement outside the precinct stopped to listen.

The interfaith service was conducted by Rev Hugh Ellis, Church of England, with Rabbi Jonathan Romain for the Jewish community and Imam Dr H Ramzy for the Islamic faith.

Various organisations laid wreaths. The Beyond Conflict Trust and the AMAR Foundation dealing with Afghanistan laid by a representative of Baroness Winterbourne, another  was presented by Ralph Gibson from the Soviet Memorial Trust, remembering all Russians who fell during WW2, including an unknown number of children.

Wreaths were also laid by British and Finnish WW2 evacuees whose young lives were disrupted by the onslaught of war.
